Navigator is a 3d ship driving simulator designed to interact and educate patrons of all ages whom come to visit Nauticus in downtown Norfolk Va. Many technologies went into the design and developement of this fun and intuitive simulator. Digital Elevation Modeling Data (DEM) from NASA was used to generate precise terrain elevation used in the game.

Patrons who play the game has a choice of four stations with three ships available to drive and three different evironments to choose from. During the voyage from the Chesapeake Bay Bridge tunnel to Nauticus, new captains are challenged with many obsticles and while gathering information about the surrounding area.

Navigation was completly custom from start to finish. Star developers teamed up with Nauticus technicians to develop the most interactive and information filled game to hit the museum floor.

"Nauticus contracted with Star to create, from scratch, an interactive game that let’s visitors navigate ships through the Elizabeth River to Nauticus.  Star provided 3 ship options and 3 difficulty levels all with numerous “view” options.  The game has information bubbles with voice-overs to provide educational opportunities for the pilot throughout the trip and an actual ships wheel and throttle as input devices.  Star provided an incredibly professional and highly entertaining product that is a one-of-a-kind experience at Nauticus and has visitors lining up to play.  We couldn’t be more pleased and are very excited to have a local company of this caliber to work with in the future."
